About Us - We're Museum Kids!

Call us nerds but ...we love Smithsonian Museums!

 Hi,  I'm Jen!

We are a family of 4 living in the suburbs of DC with a 3 and 6 year old.  Last summer, we attempted to visit all 12 Smithsonian Museums in Washington DC and made a passing grade after some summer colds got in the way :) After the first couple of museum visits, friends asked me to write up some tips I found for navigating the crowds, parking, food and most importantly how to survive a museum visit with kids!

These museums are national treasures but they can certainly be overwhelming.  So I put together all my tips and tricks for beating the crowds into Guides for each of the museums.

Some of our #smithsonianbucketlist highlights so far:

  • My daughter created and tested her flying invention at Air and Space Museum.
  • My son loved watching Jetty the sea lion get his teeth brushed at the National Zoo.
  • Kids loved playing in a kid-sized Julia Child kitchen at the American History Museum.
  • We explored gems and glow in the dark minerals inside a "cave" at the Natural History Museum.

We'd love to hear from you about your experiences traveling with kids! I'm on Instagram and on email at familytripguides (at) gmail (dot) com.

Happy Exploring!

We love to Travel with our Kids!

We've traveled around the world to visit family and explore more than just Smithsonians and museums (thanks to frequent flyer miles!) we've visited: Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Italy and Canada.I have posted some of our tips for international travel on MulticulturalKidsBlogs:
