Jug Bay Natural Area Wetlands

Jug Bay Natural Area Wetlands

Jug Bay Wetlands is a Wetlands Sanctuary just 21 miles east of DC. Located in Upper Marlboro, MD is such a unique place to visit! We explored the Marsh Boardwalk trail (one-way trail that begins right before the Visitor's center). My daughter even got to log her wildlife sightings in the Visitor's Center log book nailed to the door. (One note from a non-bug lover: there are definitely more bugs and critters than other hikes...its a sanctuary after all! I would consider bug spray and do a good tick check when you get home. Don't miss this hidden gem which is open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. About 21 miles east of DC and 27 miles from Arlington. Sign says to pay $6 at Visitor Center when open but wasn't open when we were there. (Free for military and veterans with ID) Check out more in the link below. Parking lot after a lovely gravel road.
