Franciscan Monastery Gardens
Washington, DC - Park
The Franciscan Monastery Gardens are so much more extensive than what I thought based on pictures! We were first greeted by a very friendly security guard. Bikes need to be left outside the gate. Then, you enter the arched walkways around the main garden of the monastery. There are beautiful mosaics and we will be back soon when the roses are in bloom! On the right side of @franciscanmonastery is an archway to the beautiful Gardens. This was my favorite part with surprises around each bend: little chapels, fish pond, statues, and even replicas of religious sites from the Holy Lands. ⏰ - Open every day from 9 AM to 4:45 PM and FREE to enter. 🚻 - No public restrooms available. 🅿️ - Free parking a in a large lot right across the street. ♿️ - The garden portion may not be wheelchair friendly because of a steeper hill up. Strollers would work if you go towards the fish pond first!🍦- After our garden time, we went 2 blocks west to Yes! Organic Market Brookland and got mango pops and ice cream sandwiches! @franciscanmonastery for more info.
