A Sweet Stop at the Smithsonian Pollinator Garden
The Smithsonian Pollinator Garden is one of those little gems on the National Mall that’s easy to walk right past—but thankfully, when you’re with kids, nothing gets missed! My daughter noticed the colorful flowers and buzzing bees, and we ended up spending way more time there than I expected… in the best way.
What started as a quick stop turned into an engaging science lesson. We read all the signs together and learned so much about bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. One of our favorite facts? Scout bees return to the hive and perform a special dance to show their friends exactly where the best flower patches are. Nature is wild and wonderful!
The garden is tucked between the NGA Sculpture Garden and the Natural History Museum along Madison Drive, so it’s the perfect add-on when you’re already museum-hopping. And if you’re wondering about bathrooms—good news! There are clean, well-ventilated restrooms right next door at the Sculpture Garden.
