Best Parts of the National Mall Residence Inn

There's lots to love about the National Mall Residence Inn from both the kids and parents' perspectives! As a mom, I really appreciated that all rooms are suites with kitchenettes. We had a King bedroom suite so there was a door between our room and the kid's pull out couch. The kitchenette came fully stocked with pots and pans, dishes and utensils, microwave and full size fridge. We made microwave popcorn for movie night after the pool!
And speaking of the pool, that was definitely my kids' favorite parts of the hotel. It's a smaller indoor pool for a hotel this size but perfect for kids after a long day sightseeing! When we went, there were lots of left over beach balls and floats for the kids to use. And a jacuzzi for the adults directly next to the pool. There is also a sun deck directly off of the pool with tables and chairs.
The free hot breakfast was fairly simple but had everything we needed from hot coffee, waffle maker, yogurt, eggs, sausage (and I think bacon but I honestly forget!), fresh fruit and lots of juices. We went on a weekend in the summer so it was pretty busy around 8:30 AM but enough seating for everyone. We may have needed to wait for a few minutes for one of the food items.
Lastly but probably most importantly, the hotel is great because of its proximity to the National Mall, Smithsonians, 1 block to Metro Station and governmental buildings. Truly a central location from which you can explore the wonders of DC! (And check out these 10 Hidden Gems of DC)
Drawbacks of the National Mall Residence Inn

There's not a lot of negatives to the National Mall Residence Inn so I had to think hard to include even a few! One note would be that it is in a business area of DC. It is not close to one of the great neighborhoods of DC and so you don't get that charming Eastern Market/Capitol Hill or Columbia Heights vibe.
