Sledding Hills in DC
U.S. Capitol Lawn
This is the most famous spot in DC to sled! It is open in 2022 but there have been times when it was closed.
Location: First St SE, Washington, DC 20004

Battery Kemble Park
Huge hill in Northwest DC that is popular with sledders! Check out Instagram for the most recent pictures of families having fun!
Location: 3035 Chain Bridge Rd NW, Washington, DC 20016
Fort DuPont Park
Huge park with 400 acres and, I've heard, some good hills!
Location: Fort DuPont Drive SE, Washington, DC 20019
Good Sledding Hills in Northern Virginia
Huntsman Lake, Springfield
This is my favorite place to sled! You go down Golden Ball Tavern Court to the end and then find a parking spot on the street. You will most likely see a lot of people walking to the hills surrounding the end of the lake. I love this spot because there are different size hills to choose from, and tons of space to spread out. There are some steeper hills that go into the forest (for bigger kids!) and smaller hills that are fast but go into a bowl-type valley for the little ones. We went 3 times in 2 days last year and hope to go soon in 2022!
Location: Near the end of Golden Ball Tavern Court, Burke VA 22152

The pictures don't do it justice! I'll try to add better ones this year :)
Tuckahoe Park, Arlington
There is a hill close to Sycamore Street that is pretty high and gets some good speed, so I've been told! Also a fun playground to play in any weather with a huge spider web climbing net and nature trails.
Location: 2400 N. Sycamore St., Arlington
The Masonic Temple, Alexandria
Huge hills surrounding the Masonic Temple just outside of Old Town! This is like northern Virginia's version of the US Capitol lawn! Be careful, I have heard it can get pretty steep and fast for little ones!
Location: 101 Callahan Dr, Alexandria, VA 22301
Manassas National Battlefield - Good sledding hill near me in Prince William County
A couple of places recommended the Manassas National Battlefield for sled-able hills, especially by the historic Stone House. There is parking there but be aware of creeks throughout the park.
Location: By the Stone House, off Route 29 at 12521 Lee Hwy, Manassas, VA 20109
Good Sledding Hills Near Me in Maryland
Rockville Civic Center
Incredible hills and SO much space! We went without snow and my kids remarked the hills would be amazing for sledding! Recommend parking near the tennis courts if you can to avoid a walk from the main parking lot.
Location: 603 Edmonston Dr, Rockville, MD 20851
Silver Spring International Middle School
When I asked last winter on Instagram where people loved to go sledding, I was surprised by this suggestion but some online research agrees! (Note: School is operated by Montgomery County Schools so check their opening status before going.)
Location: 2400 N313 Wayne Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910
Agricultural History Farm Park, Derwood, MD - Good sledding hill near me in Montgomery County
The Montgomery County Parks actually recommends this park for sledding! They said by the Bluebird Garden at the lower parking lot near the activity center is a good hill.
Location: 18400 Muncaster Rd, Derwood, MD 20855
