It’s almost time for fall festivals in northern Virginia and our family could not be more excited! I think Fall is the most anticipated season in Virginia because we are all so excited for relief from the heat and humidity.
There are so many fall festivals and activities in Virginia that I need to just focus on one state for this post. Please let me know if I missed any other fall festivals in northern Virginia!

September and October Fall Festivals in Northern Virginia
Nalls Produce Stand and Festival (Franconia/Alexandria)
We love Nalls! More than just a great produce, this family run institution has Penny the Pig, insta-famous Pumpkin Wall and Pumpkin Hill starting in October. Smaller than the larger farms but close to 495/395 and great for little ones. Masks will be required this year on Pumpkin Hill and inside the retail store. Pumpkin Hill is free and check out their video of what it looked like last year!

Cox Farms Fall Festival (Centreville, VA) (largest of the fall festivals in northern Virginia)
Dates: September 18-19 and September 25 – Nov. 7
The largest fall festival in Northern Virginia with SO much to do! Truly a Fall Wonderland and my kids’ favorite fall festival! 10+ attractions including “World-Famous Hayride,” Hay Tunnels, Treetops Slide, Barn Slide, Castle Slide, Mountain Slide, Foamhenge, farm chores, pumpkin patch and more!

Great Country Farms (Bluemont, Virginia)
Apple Gala & Cider Fest – Weekends in September
Our family loves going to Great Country Farms anytime of year but the fall is especially fun! They offer so much in their 12 acre Farm Play Area including picking apples, fresh cider from their antique cider press and cider donuts. Also a huge jumping pad (like a basketball court size!), cow train, farm animals, ninja course, corn maze and more.
Pumpkin Harvest Festival – Everyday in October
In October the Farm goes from apples to pumpkins! In addition to everything at the farm, you can also shoot pumpkins fro ma cannon and feed P-Rex!

Cost: : Advanced Weekdays $10 Child and $12 for adults. Weekends $14 for children and $16 for adults. At the Farm its an additional $2. Military and veteran families are free up to 6 people.
Hollin Farms (Delaplane, Virginia)
Dates: Generally open Wednesdays through Sundays but check their website here which is updated weekly.
A lovely farm on a hill overlooking more rolling hills in Delaplane. We went here a couple years ago and it was a great laid back farm to visit in the Fall. You can pick apples and seasonal vegetables (even dig for potatoes!) or pick your own pumpkin off the vine. From their website: “It is especially important to check this website on the day you plan to come because we may need to make changes to the hours and days we are open. We provide containers. Please do not bring bags, backpacks, cinch sacks, large purses, coolers, and picnic items into the orchard. Friendly dogs welcome on a leash, but not in the vegetable areas.”

Pumpkin Village at Leesburg Animal Park
Dates: Begins September 18 through October.
Tons of activities on the grounds of the Leesburg Animal Park including Giant Hill Slides, Pedal Carts, Kiddie Zip Line, Hay Maze, Pony Rides (additional fee), Pet and Feed Live Animals. Camels, Zebras, Lemurs and Sloths.

Reston Farm Garden Market Fall Fest
Dates: Weekends from September 24 – October 31
90 minute time slots starting at 10 am and then 30 minute window in between sessions to clean. Spookley the Square Pumpkin Learning Maze, Bounce Houses and Games, Train Rides and Petting Zoo.

Colonial Market Mount Vernon – September 18/19 and October 23/24 (Mount Vernon, VA)
Outdoor market at Mount Vernon with food, artisans, chat with George.

Falls Church Festival – September 11
Family-fun event with The Taste of Falls Church, a beer garden, children’s entertainment, live music and more!

Perchfest – September 17-19 (Tysons, Virginia)
The Grand Opening of The Perch which is a new park 11 stories high located at the Capital One Center in Tysons, Virginia. Live music, food and kid-friendly activities.

Claude Moore Fall Festival – September 18 (Sterling, VA)
“Spend a beautiful fall day outdoors at CMP! Enjoy music and pumpkin painting. Explore an interesting trade with fiber arts. Shop from hand-made crafts for sale by local artists. View the amazing work of entrants to the Friends of CMP’s 13th Annual Photo Expo. Food available for purchase. No registration required. Use the Loudoun Park Lane entrance and follow the signs. Merrifield Fall Festival at Mosaic District September 25-26

Burke Nursery Fall Market & Pumpkin Playground (Burke, Virginia)
A great fall festival in Burke, Virginia, espcially for little ones. Free entry with lots of pumpkins, apples, and local goodies like apple cider, local honey and more. Lots of halloween decorations and a great place to take pictures.

Temple Hall Farm Pumpkin Patch
Pick your own pumpkin at this Nova Parks hidden gem! Open daily starting October 1st from 9 AM to 5 PM. Includes jumping pillows, wagon rides, farm animals and more!

National Landing Oktober Fest (Arlington, VA)
Dates: October 2nd 12-4 PM
“From live bands and crisp German Lagers to a Barktoberfest dog-run for pup-friendly activities and a variety of games and rides to entertain all ages, this event has a little something for everyone.”

Fall Fun Days at Whitehall Farms (Clifton, VA)
Dates: Weekends starting October 2 – 31st 10 AM to 4PM. You must purchase tickets online in advance. The pumpkin patch does not require tickets.
Lots of activities on the farm including corn maze, moon bounce, wagon ride, yard games and animals.

Vienna Oktoberfest – October 2nd
Come to historic Church Street and enjoy beer, wine, food, music, vendors, kids activities, and free admission! (Note: check website for photos from previous years…looks pretty packed just FYI)

Fairlington Fall Festival – October 9 – One of the neighborhood fall festivals northern Virginia

City of Fairfax Fall Festival – October 9

Clifton Day Festival October 10
